From The Vault

I got the nicest sympathy card in the mail yesterday from a long-forgotten teacher named Mrs. Elliot. That's her in the picture below, hugely pregnant. I remember when her baby was born (she named her Clarissa, a name I've liked ever since), and I remember going to her house for an end-of-the year party to meet the new baby. Good times. Anyway, she sent me the sweetest card telling me how sorry she was to hear about my father's death, and she included a little print-out of our class photo. I was so touched! First, that she remembered me at all, and second, that she was so thoughtful to send a card and include a picture. We lost most of our photos in a house fire when I was a teenager, so things like this mean even more to me now.

The quality is terrible and was made worse by my crappy scanner, but here it is anyway:

Can you spot the Bev? :)

Have a good Sunday, everyone! I am finally on the mend after over-indulging on dirty martinis on Friday night. Maybe tomorrow I'll tell you the story of how I now hate dirty martinis and how I now need dental work thanks to my drunk-ass friend Sarah. In the meantime, I'm going to go have a nice lunch with Mala & family and then I'm going to make a casserole to drop off at the Jillinator's house. I won't go into it, but her family suffered a very tragic and sudden loss last week, so everyone please think good thoughts for my friend Jill. Love you, girl! oxoxox

Praying for Jill!

I cannot wait to hear the story about dental work and dirty martinis. I don't like martinis but once at the olives out of everyone else's (for hours.) Needless to say I was VERY sick later on. VERY.

Word verf: entem-how Aiden used to say "thank you" as a toddler. brings back sweet memories.

Thank you so much Bev... but now you've got me crying again. (since I'm WAY too lazy to blog... to those who have gotten used to my comments and wonder what is going on, my sister Joanna was in a car accident on Thursday night and was killed. She leaves behind 2 young daughters and we're all in shock and devastated beyond belief). Bev... remember that we've been travlling and our house is way more dishevelled (sp?) than it usually is. Ric is taking the girls out to get dresses to wear to the funeral and I'm going down to Tyngsboro to make picture boards - ugh. since my OCD-ness is in full force when I'm stressed I sure hope he finds matching ones.

as for the picture... I guessed middle row white shirt.

Bev, I know what you mean about the pictures. The few I have of my grandma are very precious to me.
I think I picked the same one as Jill in your picture... wow, you got to stand up ;) I was such a runt I always had to sit on the floor - sometimes by myself, holding the sign.

Jill, I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. Sending warm hugs your way.

Oh my gosh, I'm completely at a loss as to what to say. I wanted to comment on what could possibly have happened that would require dental work but then I read the comments...

Jill, I'm just so sorry for your loss. Your family is in my thoughts.

Kate - Oh, the olives are the BEST part! I can dig it. But, even those... well, it'll be a while before I eat green olives again. Blech.

Jillinator - Girl, you know I'm thinking of you and praying for your family. I can't imagine how you must be feeling. Just know I'm here for you whenever you need me. ((((((hugs)))))))) Oh, and the random casserole on your doorstep will be from me. ;)

Mtn Mama - Oh yeah, I've always been among the tall chicks. I was 5'7" all through HS and college, but apparently I've already started shrinking b/c I'm now 5'6 and 3/4". WTF? Whatever... being tall is cool. I can reach everything on all the tall shelves!

Samsmama - Oh, I'll tell the dental story, don't you worry. And thnx for thinking good thoughts for the Jilly Bean. oxoxo

warm loving thoughts to Jill...if she's a friend of yours, she's a friend of mine :)
now, on to those dirty martinis! My husband has a LOT of bad dirty martini stories too, so this should be fun :)

ohhh, I didn't even need to enlarge the picture to find ya. Standing, white shirt, next the the shim.
MtnMama - I'm totally jealous! I always wanted to hold the sign!!!

Jillinator - Hugs my friend. I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to you and your family.
And if you need, I'll take the girls shopping, I promise matching (and cute) dresses.

Oooh, Mary, can't wait to hear some of your husband's stories, too. Misery does love company.... ;)

Mala - You're good! Oh, and that "shim" was my best friend, Erin! hahahaha!!! She is on FB now and always makes me feel like a lazy fuck b/c she is a mother, teacher, AND runs freakin' marathons in her "spare time." Bitch.

Other notables in this pic:
the boy in the back row on the far left is Chad Paronto, a professional baseball player.

The timid looking girl with the striped shirt and the bowl cut dead center is Hannah Nelson, who was Miss Vermont in 2000.

The cutie in the 2nd row, 2nd one in was my first friend named "Harmony!" We were tight!

I had a crush on the boy right behind me in the plaid shirt. God knows why.

The boy in the back row with the blond bowl cut (4th in from the left) was a horrible bully. I hated him! He met with a tragic end several years ago, which was an odd feeling.

It's kind of cool how many of these people I still "know" through Facebook.
